Group Facilitator (Volunteer)

Our Social Support Groups have been created to bring people together who may have shared interests, lived experiences or backgrounds, to provide them with the opportunity to make connections, build their personal networks and keep them engaged with their local communities. These Support Groups are run across all Metropolitan Adelaide regions, on weekdays, and each have an individual program of activities.

Role responsibilities:

  • Act as the contact person for the group
  • Contact the RSB Community Engagement Facilitator if the group is unable to resolve difficulties independently
  • Work with the Community Engagement Facilitator to develop an appropriate program
  • For outings, provide required information to Community Engagement Facilitator regarding coordination of Volunteer Transport for client(s) attending the group
  • Encourage group conversations & discussions about various topics
  • Welcome new members to the group and assist with their integration into the group
  • Arrange for another group member to facilitate the group if unable to attend the meeting
  • Provide Human Guide assistance (training provided)
  • Prepare food & refreshments (provided)
  • Identify & assist client(s) as per individual needs

Role Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to relate well to people of different ages from various cultural backgrounds
  • Responsible and reliable in attendance
  • Be fit, healthy and competent to drive
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexible approach to working arrangements
  • Pleasant, approachable personality
  • Driver's licence
  • DHS Screening Checks – Aged Care, Disability & Child-Related
  • National Criminal History Check
  • Attend RSB Volunteer Induction & Human Guide Training
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module
  • Attend any other relevant training courses as identified and agreed with the RSB
