Positions available across the Brisbane and the Gold Coast Regions.

Wesley Mission Queensland’s Group61 program are looking for friendly people who have an hour each week or fortnight to spend visiting isolated or lonely individuals living in in the community in their own homes.

To be a Companion Volunteer you must have:

• A genuine interest in working with older people
• Have good communication and listening skills
• Have empathy for lonely, socially isolated people
• Be able to visit regularly on an ongoing basis
• The ability to record and submit a quick online Record of Visits report each month online.

Volunteers are supported in their role by a designated coordinator who will match them with a designated “friend”. The visits are relaxed and social in nature, where you might chat together, reminisce, play card games or watch a movie. You and your friend can even attend some of the exciting functions and events organised by the Group61 team.
