What We’re Looking For

Positively Transforming World (PTW) are looking for people from a sporting, personal training or physical activity background to join our community engagement project in Melbourne Australia and help lead community events and mentoring programs.

About Us

PTW is a 100% skill-based volunteer-run-and-operated organization providing international aid through Health and Education. Our mission is to empower the world with quality health and education. All staff, and therefore all volunteers provide at least 3 hours of service weekly to PTW in their respective role and volunteer from their own hometown. All positions within PTW are volunteer roles.

Role Type

This role is a public-facing role involving mentorship programs for children and disadvantaged members of the community; and running community health and education events and fundraisers. The expected 3 hours week will primarily be between 5:30-8:00pm on Fridays, 8-11am Saturdays, or 8-11am on Sundays. Once per month volunteers must lead a community fitness event, and on other weeks lead mentoring/fitness activities with disadvantaged children youth groups.

The Opportunity

  • The Community Engagement team is responsible for fundraising and front-end delivery of health and education initiatives within PTW that supports the wider Melbourne community. This includes: Identifying, planning, initiating, implementing and evaluating evidence-based innovative health and education initiatives that improves the health and education of Melbourne
  • Building and maintaining relationships with the community and facilitating leadership and supporting aligned activities
  • Identifying opportunities for community involvement in design and decision making in activities that effect their lives
  • Researching, planning, managing and developing logistics of community events and new fundraising strategies and opportunities
  • Represent PTW and aid our fundraising community engagement activities including mentoring and supporting children, and leading and guiding adults to improved health and education

Who This Role Is Suited For

This role is suited but not limited to professionals and students with experience in any fields of personal training, physical activity and therapy, physical education, sports science, fitness instructing and any other related backgrounds.

You uphold your responsibilities and the values of the organization whilst supporting your team to ensure the best outcomes for PTW and the community. You are able to work with people from significantly different backgrounds and able to be diplomatic, fair and supportive in achieving your goals and that of the team. You welcome feedback and always seek to improve your abilities.
