The program Australian Red Cross knows that teaching children and families about how to be prepare for emergencies can help keep them and communities safe. That's why we have developed the Pillowcase Project, a program designed to build children's knowledge and capacity preparedness.  Through the Emergency preparedness workshops, young people and adults are encouraged to think about what emergencies might affect them and how; participate in activities that prepare them psychologically and practically to act in an emergency and to share their knowledge with loved ones, so that, if an emergency occurs, everyone in your household knows what to do and how to stay safe.

The opportunity In this role you will work with individuals, communities and organisations to help spread the preparedness message and encourage people to take actions to be better prepared for emergencies. As part of your role you will be collecting preparedness data on individuals and households, facilitating preparedness workshops and engaging communities to talk about emergency preparedness. Do not worry if you do not already have knowledge on this topic; we will equip you with the tools to facilitate this conversation.
