Synapse Australia LimitedSynapse seeks to recruit people who have a strong commitment to making a difference to the lives of people impacted by brain injury. In addition to a strong alignment with the vision, values and strategic direction of Synapse, the Board is particularly interested in recruiting individuals who have experience in one or more of the following areas:·
- Medical or allied health·
- Brain injury research·
- Links to philanthropic organisations and the corporate sector
Previous experience as a Director of a not-for-profit organisation and/or willingness to undertake relevant professional development is desirable. You must be eligible for a Working with Children Blue Card in Queensland, a Yellow Card Exemption and a National Police Check. About Synapse:Synapse—Australia’s Brain Injury Organisation, provides a range of services nationally, which includes amongst other things: Information and referral– We respond to enquiries on all issues relating to Brain Disorders which may include the provision of appropriate resources and/or linking the individuals to services. Information, Linkages and Capacity Building- Developing and implementing information\, linkages and capacity building models and activities. Training- Synapse delivers customised training programs on topics relating to Brain Disorders, including Brain Injury and the trauma associated with it. National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) services - Almost 1000 people contacted Synapse seeking information and services regarding NDIS planning and coordination. Advocacy- is about justice and the fundamental human needs, rights and interests of everyone, but particularly people with a disability. It can involve getting someone to speak on your behalf, or self-advocacy where individuals are supported speak for themselves. Housing and Support- The accommodation options we provide include Transitional Accommodation, 24/7 Supported Housing, Independent Living and Community Access Options Targeted research activities– The Research team conduct targeted projects that contribute to the development of evidence-based policies and services in the government and community sectors. Our mission is to ensure the rights of people impacted by brain injury, by connecting knowledge, policy, services and systems.
