Companions for aged care residents
Byron Community CentreWe currently would welcome volunteers with the following skill sets: · General activities – assisting Positive Living Team with scheduled daily recreational activities · Morning or Afternoon Tea assist · Arts and Crafts, any volunteer who is particularly artistic and willing to devise a craft residents can make – we can provide supplies · Games, any volunteer who can play card or board games with residents (Scrabble, Bridge, Chess/Checkers etc) · Drivers – any volunteer with a valid driver’s licence who is willing to drive or ride along in a Feros minivan with residents – must sign Motor Vehicle Stat Dec · Pets (Bangalow location) any volunteer who is able to help with dog walking and pet feeding schedule · 1:1 chat volunteers – any individual who is able to visit non-mobile residents in their rooms for chats. Also, some residents with dementia often settle best when receiving 1:1 attention, which could be simply sitting and holding their hand, etc. · Computer/IT/Photo volunteers – anyone with computer or tablet skills who is able to assist residents with their devices, or able to assist Positive Living Team to either take or sort through event photos
