Purpose of the position: The purpose of the role is to ensure that Samford RDA’s finances are managed to enable the group to efficiently work towards achieving its stated aims and objectives and to fulfil its statutory requirements as an Incorporated Association (as per the Associations Incorporations Act, Qld, 1981) and Registered Charity (ACNC).

Principal duties & responsibilities • Manage Samford RDA bank accounts; • Maintain an up to date record of all financial transactions (Excel spreadsheets); • Pay incoming invoices; and issue invoices and receipts (MYOB system); • Assist with acquittal reports for grants and other funds; • Submit the financial records for annual review by the accountant designated at the Annual General Meeting; • Liaise with the Secretary to maintain a record of all financial documents; • Provide a financial report at each Committee Meeting (in person where possible) & at the Annual General Meeting (in accordance with the requirements of the Associations Incorporations Act, Qld, 1981).

Suitable experience, attributes and skills: • Basic bookkeeping skills (reconciliation, balance sheets, profit and loss); • Experience with MYOB/ Microsoft Excel (or similar systems); • Experience in writing financial reports and preparing budgets; • Well organised; • Sound written & verbal communication skills; • Trustworthy, reliable, and autonomous; • Will require a National Police Check and Blue Card.

Time required: Monthly committee meeting currently alternates between every first Sunday (4pm) and Monday (6.30pm) of the month. Active involvement is expected at other times – actual time required will be dependent on individual skills to achieve the duties and responsibilities above, but be aware that the commitment is significant.

You will develop familiarity with the not-for-profit sector and functioning of a community group and Management Committee. As a valued member of the Samford RDA Committee you will have the opportunity to participate in decisions and future directions of Samford RDA, as well as enjoyable on-the-ground activities should you wish to assist in our riding classes for people with disabilities.
