Fleet Maintenance Support Volunteer

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: Maintenance, Service & Repair of Fleet Vehicles: ensure effective and timely maintenance, servicing and repair of BBCR vehicles in order to minimise down time. Coordinate and monitor the maintenance & repair of company vehicles Ensure preventive maintenance programs are carried out as per schedule and monitor post repair performance. Manage the inventory of spares parts for vehicles with the assistance of the Fleet Maintenance Administration support volunteer, in order to ensure an adequate supply of spares Implementation of best practice and continuous improvement in relation to fleet operations: Implement and enforce vehicle management best practices, policies and procedures. Induction of Bus Drivers & bus Assistants: Undertake induction & orientation to staff & volunteers in the operation of relevant vehicles to strengthen capacity to undertake mandatory checks & maintenance of vehicles Deliver Training of Bus Drivers & bus Assistants: Deliver the Bus Driver & Bus Assistant training in line with the BBCR Competency Based Training Program for Operating & providing service provision related to transporting clients in a bus environment. Departmental Communications & teamwork: Work closely with volunteer bus drivers, volunteer bus assistants, Team Leader, Program Support Workers to facilitate effective communication and team work to ensure a high quality of Fleet maintenance. Cleaning schedule: Implement internal & external cleaning schedules for all vehicles Administration: Work closely with the Fleet Maintenance Administration Volunteer to ensure that all relevant data entry and documentation relevant to fleet maintenance is maintained and available within all vehicles.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES Minimum LR Licence:  A minimum Class LR licence is a mandatory requirement for this role. Work Place Training:  Work Place Training certificate or equivalent with experience in training is mandatory for this role. Time Management & Planning:  The ability to time manage multi tasks and operational planning skills would benefit this role. Cultural Diversity:  Culturally appropriate lived skills, knowledge or understanding would be an advantage. i.e. ability to speak, read or write a language other than English Administration: Administration and computer application skills would be a benefit to this role. Qualities and Attitudes - Volunteers must have a willingness to learn, Have reliable attendance on rostered days to support service activities & provide timely notification to supervisor of non-attendance. Have a tactful and caring approach. Be committed to working constructively as part of a team.  Have a positive attitude to the care of older people, respecting their rights and independence. Have the ability to follow instructions and take direction & be committed to treatingothers with dignity and respect. Have an understanding & respect of culturally diverse communities. Have a high level of communication and interpersonal skills. Communication & Interpersonal skills– Volunteers undertaking this role must have a good level of communication skills & interpersonal skills. They must have the ability to treat others with dignity and respect, be non judgmental & culturally appropriate. Physicality – While performing this role, the volunteer may be required to undertake manual task handling tasks including pushing, lifting, bending, squatting, sitting etc.
