Story Dogs currently has 3 schools in North West Tasmania requesting volunteers. We would also like to find more volunteers to help children in a school of their choice.

The schools currently seeking volunteers are:

* Latrobe Primary School. * Somerset Primary School. * Forth Primary School. (Forth Primary School currently have a small breed dog volunteering and would like to add a second dog to their school. They would like a large breed dog as their other Story Dogs Volunteer Dog Team.

About Story Dogs: Story Dogs is a not-for-profit organisation that places volunteer dog teams into a school of their choice to assist children who are struggling with their reading ability. The reading program that is provided in schools is one-on-one, where the children have the extra benefit of reading to a dog to give them more confidence in a less stressful environment. Story Dogs volunteers do not test the children, they simply provide support and encouragement in a non-judgmental way. With Australia's poor literacy levels, our volunteers have an important role in helping to change the lives of children in their local community and help them learn to love reading and become life long readers.

About You: You will be someone who is non-judgemental, understands and values diversity, is neat and tidy, can commit long term to 2 hours per week, once per week during school term, and you own or have access to the use of a familiar dog. You will also need to be able to obtain a Work With Vulnerable People card.

About the Dog: The dog needs to be a minimum of 12 months old, you must have owned or worked with the dog for a minimum of 6 months, the dog will have a relaxed personality, be very well training and love children and cuddles.
