The visitor will:

visit the designated person
provide friendship and companionship
undertake activities that are appropriate for the individual - this may include, teaching piano, playing piano, teaching English language, reminiscing and biographies.

Successful completion of the COTA SA Community Visitors Scheme volunteer orientation.

Requirements

National Police Certificate
Others

- Knowledge of ageing. - Knowledge of experiences and lifestyles of older people. - Empathy for older people who wish to remain living independently at home within the community and for people who live in residential care homes, including people from different cultural backgrounds and who are from diverse communities. - Respect for different lifestyles older people live. Please Note: As each organisation provides different levels/types of insurance, volunteers are reminded to check with the organisation as to the type of insurance provided for volunteers (e.g. Volunteer Personal Accident Insurance)
