Community Visitors - Baranduda
The Centre for Continuing EducationThe Community Visitors Scheme volunteers provide friendship and companionship to isolated members of our community.
Be matched on a one-to-one basis with a resident with similar interests, provide a link with the community, share interests and hobbies, and show a genuine interest in the person. It’s about making a resident feel valued and cared for by connecting them to the community through conversation on a regular basis (an hour a fortnight).
The program matches volunteers with recipients of a Home Care Package (including wait-listed) or in subsidised aged care homes.
This position is flexible as you can coordinate visiting times to suit you and your resident.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer contact us and we will send an information pack, which will include application forms. As part of your application we will then complete a police check on your behalf. Initial orientation to the aged care environment, or home, ongoing communication and support is then provided.
