Purpose of the role. The role of The Salvation Army’s Court and Prison Chaplains is to provide pastoral care, spiritual and emotional support or make referrals to other helpful agencies. Chaplains can provide pastoral care and support to families before during and after legal proceedings, as well as to offenders.

The role of the Administration Assistant will work closely with and report to the Queensland Team Leader.

The main tasks include: Administration and filing. Support the coordination of meetings and team building events. Provide administrative support to team as required.

Treats others with respect and dignity and supports all policies and decisions. Is reliable, trustworthy, credible and truthful and is proactive and self-motivated. Able to work with professional discretion and confidentiality. Recognises and respects the rights and beliefs of others in a non-judgemental way. A respect and willingness to work within the ethos of The Salvation Army.

This is an ongoing role, requiring a minimum 3 month commitment for the right person to make a difference in the community.

Qualifications and experience requirements for the Role Competent using Microsoft Office suite, Word, Excel and Power Point. Experience in an administrative role is desired. An understanding of pastoral care support is desired. Excellent communication both written and verbal. Good understanding of Christian teachings and ethos.

Mandatory requirements of the role Fully complete The Salvation Army's volunteer registration process. Complete TSA induction modules and any other training as required. Willingness to undertake The Salvation Army’s Criminal History Check -Police Check- at the organisation’s expense. Current Blue Card or willingness to obtain one.

Roster & time commitment Commitment to 1-2 days a week at 4-6 hours per day, as negotiated with line manager. Must be available 2nd Friday of every month for meetings.
