Meals on Wheels is a name familiar to Australians and is at the heart of many communities. It represents helping hands, teamwork and looking out for each other. It is all about people in the community joining forces to help others.

Whilst age and disability may reduce some people’s capacity to get out and about, Meals on Wheels help make it possible for them to stay in their homes, where most are happiest, and maintain their independence. Delivery of nutritious meals, social interaction and a friendly check of a client’s well being by Meals on Wheels volunteers can help people live the lives they choose.

We are looking to appoint a Volunteer Marketing/Social Media Assistant who is based in South Australia, to manage our social media presence and assist with other marketing duties as requested.

This would include the following: ·         Creation of an Australian Meals on Wheels Facebook page, and the development of a content calendar which would meet our advocating objectives. ·         Sourcing images and writing content/stories ·         Scheduling posts on Facebook ·         Growing our Facebook community ·         Report on/respond to online discussions where appropriate ·         Writing newsletter copy ·         Other relevant tasks as required

Selection criteria (desirable): ·         Experience in writing content, publishing, marketing or social media ·         Experience managing multiple social media platforms ·         Strong understanding of social media trends as relevant to NFP sector ·         Excellent written and verbal communications skills ·         Reliable and organised, with excellent attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines ·         Ability to train stakeholders in how to use various social media platforms ·         Has a proactive approach ·         Has good telephone manner

Reporting to the Executive Officer, Australian Meals on Wheels, you’ll work collaboratively to build an advocating Facebook community and improve brand awareness and engagement for Australian Meals on Wheels.

You may be a marketing/communication student or recent graduate, or social media enthusiast looking to work with a professional, friendly and passionate team who are making a positive difference. This may be your stepping stone to paid employment in Australia, or a practical way that you can give back to society.

Hours: The Marketing/Social Media Assistant volunteer is required for approx. 6 hours per week. You will work from our South Australian office, but then also have the flexibility to work from home once fully briefed. We ask for a minimum commitment of six months.
