Friend Line Supervisor
Friends for Good Inc.Friends for Good was the first national charity working solely on the issue of loneliness. We operate Friend Line, a service for people experiencing loneliness to chat with friendly volunteers. Through social media we have a space for conversations to break down the stigma surrounding this issue, which is very detrimental to our health. We have completed an on-line survey Time We Talked to find out more about loneliness in Australia. Friends for Good has also hosted the first national conference about loneliness - The Australian Loneliness Dialogue and a Symposium – Initiatives to Alleviate Loneliness FFG is seeking volunteer supervisors for our Friend Line service that operates Tuesday to Thursday 6-8pm. Supervisors are responsible to ensure the smooth running of the service, including supporting volunteers, managing difficult calls (Friend Line is not a crisis service), providing referrals to appropriate organisations and debriefing. The commitment required is one evening per fortnight for a period of 6 months. Training will be provided. Volunteers must have a psychology or counselling background and have relevant experience in the field. To apply for this role please email Patricia Lauria, Chairperson, expressing your interest.
