Please Note: All in-school programs are currently suspended due to the situation with COVID-19 in Australia. However, we are still taking expressions of interest from people who would like to be kept in the loop about this volunteering role because as soon as this pandemic is over and school resumes as per usual, we will need to have Volunteers who are ready to proceed as soon as possible. So, if you would like to know more about this program, please continue to read on below and express your interest by hitting the 'Apply' button at the bottom of the page.

An Organisation in Canley Heights is seeking Volunteers for their before school Homework Club, specifically for Primary School aged children. As a Homework Club Volunteer you would provide additional learning support to students with their homework, outside of normal school hours. Some of these students come from refugee and migrant backgrounds and may have limited access to homework help at home.

Help may include language support, numeracy, going over lesson content from school or helping with assignments. The Homework Club provides a safe and non-judgemental environment where students can come to get extra help with their school work.

Volunteers are not required to have a tertiary education qualification, although this would be beneficial, and is a perfect opportunity for those who are studying in this field to get some experience. You would need to have an excellent command of the English language, both spoken and written, and be comfortable working in an educational environment with children. You will also need to be of a kind and caring nature, have plenty of patience and a desire to see children achieve their best.

The hours that Volunteers are required are Thursday mornings, during school terms, between 8.15am and 9.15am. Due to the nature of this role, a minimum 6 month commitment is favourable and a Working With Children Check clearance is mandatory.

If you would like to make a difference to a child’s life and encourage them on to receiving a better education, we would love to hear from you.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
