Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Community Visitor Volunteer – Page ACT
MS PlusMultiple Sclerosis is funded to provide a volunteer visiting program – the Community Visitors Scheme (CVS). Volunteer visitors share stories, go for a stroll or have a cuppa, listen to music or play a game. Our volunteers play a vital role in the life of a person living in an aged care home or their own home through ongoing friendship.
We have a 90-year-old gentleman living in a Page aged care home who would enjoy a male or female volunteer visitor for social support visits. He played tennis until the age of 83, loves martial arts, Siamese cats and is very crafty having created historical model ships and handmade leather goods. This kind soul has many interesting stories to share having served as a weather observer and public servant. He would greatly benefit from a 30min chat about hobbies, books and classical music.
You need to be warm, caring, reliable and be willing to commit to at least fortnightly visits for a minimum of 12 months.
Good English communication skills required however volunteers with other languages willing to be matched to the same language are very welcome to apply.
