Creating Peaceful Pathways - Come and join us as a volunteer participant at a two day workshop on Saturday 20 July and Sunday 21 July 2019 in Brisbane. All workshops are conducted by a team of trained volunteers for volunteers.

AVPQ Alternatives to Violence (Qld) conducts workshops to help participants discover new and creative ways to build community and to respond to conflict situations. Learn communication and leadership skills that are invaluable when working in a team.

These workshops offer experiences in small groups and one-to-one interactions that build skills through exercises focusing on Affirmation • Communication • Cooperation • Team building • Creative conflict resolution.

Are you a student looking to expand your skills to work with clients? Are you a member of a management committee wanting to improve your group meeting skills and dealing with difficult conversations? Are you wanting to start to develop your group facilitation skills? AVP workshops seek to assist people in personal growth and change. We join together, participants and volunteer facilitators both, to explore how we relate to others and seek more satisfying ways to respond.

The next Basic workshop is on Saturday 20 July and Sunday 21 July 2019 at Stones Corner in Brisbane and is open to all.

W wish to share our workshops with people who will use their skills to help volunteering in the community. We especially welcome participants who are open to using the skills they gain in these workshops to join the pathway to becoming a AVPQ Volunteer facilitator.

Registration is essential. Please contact us and the Workshop Coordinator will send you a registration form. Let us know you are registering after seeing this Volunteering Qld notice and you can participate in the two days of this Basic workshop with no fee. This offer applies to all volunteers.

All participants who have completed a Basic course are invited to participate in an Advanced level workshop. At this workshop the participants choose, by consensus, the topic which they want the second day of the program to develop. Some common themes explored are: Fear, Anger, Self Esteem, Stereotyping, Empathy, Power and Powerlessness and Forgiveness, Communication, Relationships and more…

There is also a third level workshop in which participants complete in order to be considered to work with us as a volunteer group facilitator to deliver these valuable workshops as part of a team in schools, prisons, the community and overseas.
