INNER-CITY JUNIOR MIGRANT CHILDREN'S TUTOR

We are seeking tutors to assist junior grade inner-city public housing children in Collingwood with their education. Many of these children are migrants who are behind in their education skills due to families that often have English as a secondary language. They are in need of tutoring to assist them catch up their peers with Maths and Literacy so that they will enjoy school and learning. The aim is to give them a love for education while they are still young - helping them to excel in their education.

We engage tutors with same student/s each week to build trust and relationship. We endeavour to have tutor/student ratio to be 1:1 or 1:2 as much as possible. We offer you an opportunity to join a vibrant team of volunteer tutors from all walks of life and ages and engage in a positive and friendly environment . Weekly tutoring classes will run during Vic school terms 2 + 3 during the year - 6pm - 8pm at our Collingwood venue - Harmsworth Hall, 31-33 Harmsworth Street, Collingwood 3066.

Tutoring is for Vic school term 2 + 3 - Commencing Thursday April 16, 2020 (prior orientation is mandatory) Evening tutoring for junior students held 6pm - 8pm on Thursday evenings (with cooked meal break halfway for everyone) (attending prior mandatory orientation & training session is essential) We are looking for a commitment for at least 1 school term period. Commitment to arrive on time each week of term to these children is strongly emphasised as these young people need consistency and relationship with tutor to achieve.
