of the Role
A Woodwork Instructor Volunteer facilitates woodworking activities to residents living in the residential care facility. Safety and well-being of self and others is vital and there is a requirement to identify and report hazards and incidents.

Key activities in facilitating woodworking sessions for residents
· Liaise with and advise manager regarding activities plan · Visit to meet individual or group needs as per activities plans · Prepare and set up machines and tooling for activities as required · Following woodwork activity, ensure to clean and pack room. · Ensure all necessary equipment and resources are available to cater to individual or group · Facilitate woodworking activities that are appropriate to the participant or group. · Operate in a manner that promotes effective teamwork, good relationships with service providers, residents and their families · Be prompt, courteous and respectful when interacting with residents, families and colleagues
Maintaining a safe and healthy environment is a requirement of the role. Training and induction will be provided.
Qualifications and experience requirements for the role.
- Demonstrated empathy with the elderly
- Good knowledge of and experience in using woodworking machinery
- Ability to understand architect drawings or blueprints is highly regarded
Integrity checks and completion of The Salvation Army's registration will be a requirement of the role
