About the Organisation

The UNAA Young Professionals (YP) network involves and inspires young professionals throughout Australia in international affairs and the work of the United Nations around the world, through fundraising, awareness-raising and advocacy campaigns. The YP brings together a diverse mix of young professionals from business, law, government, the arts and philanthropy that are mainly between the ages of 25 to 35 years.

About the Role

The Social Media Coordinator is responsible for day to day management of the UNAAV Young Professionals’ social media channels. The role will contribute significantly to the UNAAV YP committee’s growth in public awareness and support of the work of the UN and the UNAAV YP committee and will involve promotion of events, advocacy and project campaigns and other matters of relevance to UNAAV YP

Accountabilities

  • Day-to-day management of UNAAV YP social media activities including Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, including staying up to date with current affairs around the world and at the UN and planning social media activities accordingly
  • Working with Events team to ensure social media coverage at YP events.
  • Working with Marketing and Communications Lead to develop marketing, communication and public relations strategy and activity, including developing and monitoring content planner
  • Seeks and identifies communication opportunities and projects that contribute to increasing UNAAV YP’s online presence and reputation
  • Works with and supports Advocacy and Projects team and Events team to develop and implement social media content

Selection criteria

  • Preferably a Young Professional (between the ages of 25 and 35)
  • An interest in the United Nations and International Affairs
  • Creative content development skill
  • Knowledge and skills in social media
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Planning, organising and project management skills
  • Teamwork and cooperation skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Takes initiative
