About the Organisation

The UNAA Young Professionals (YP) network involves and inspires young professionals throughout Australia in international affairs and the work of the United Nations around the world, through fundraising, awareness-raising and advocacy campaigns. The YP brings together a diverse mix of young professionals from business, law, government, the arts and philanthropy that are mainly between the ages of 25 to 35 years.

About the Role

The Advocacy and Projects Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Advocacy and Projects Lead to  identify emerging trends and issues and developing and managing projects and advocacy work that contributes to the United Nations Association of Australia (UNAA) thought leadership positioning and in support of UNAA’s strategic priorities and interests.

Accountabilities

  •  Research, develop and implement advocacy campaign strategies
  • Explore and initiate project opportunities that align with UNAA and UNAA Victoria’s priorities
  • Identify aligning allies and, working closely with the Partnership Team, to develop and manage relations in forwarding the project and/or advocacy agenda
  • Contribute to writing submissions or written responses to Government on behalf of UNAA
  • Liaise with the Communications Team to provide relevant content for media releases, social media and other communications
  • Remain aware of and stays on top of current affairs
  • Liaise with the UNAA Victoria office and national leaders as required on advocacy matters

Selection criteria

  • Preferably a Young Professional (between the ages of 25 and 35)
  • An interest in the United Nations and International Affairs
  • Advocacy and research
  • Project management, including planning, implementing, and monitoring and evaluation
  • Written communication
  • Planning and organisation
  • Team work
  • Drive and commitment
  • Initiative to come up with new ways to promote the UNAA’s advocacy position
