Vinnies Community Hubs

Community Support Centres (Hubs) are a point of contact for people seeking assistance from the St Vincent de Paul Society. The Hub also provides services that support people to achieve stability in their lives through empowerment and self-determination for those who reside in the area.

As a Volunteer Client Support Officer, you will play a central role in the operations of the Hub, making a significant and valuable contribution to the Society.

The Volunteer Role

The Volunteer Client Support Officer will perform a variety of tasks including:

  • Provide exceptional customer service;
  • Welcome visitors to the Hub and incorporating a W.E.C.A.R.E model;
  • Interview and assess clients impartially, in relation to their needs and enquiries;        Provide appropriate support to clients and follow up where required;
  • Advocate and negotiate on behalf of the client when required; and
  • Provide support and consult with Hub coordinator.

The volunteers we are seeking will ideally:

  • Be a people person – welcoming, encouraging and positive;
  • Be willing to work within the ethos of the St Vincent de Paul Society;
  • Be respectful of others and flexible in their attitude to work and the team;
  • Have basic literacy and writing skills;
  • Be initiative driven, reliable, punctual with a can-do attitude and sound decision-making skills; and
  • Have an understanding of, and a willingness to maintain strict confidentiality at all times.

We welcome those with previous client support experience to share their skills with their fellow volunteers in the hub.
