Do you have a passion for helping others? We are currently seeking all-star community members who are looking to give back to their community as Volunteer English Tutors.

The volunteer-led Literacy Program for New Migrants and Refugees is an exciting pilot program that will be rolled out across chosen YPRL library branches. As a volunteer of this project, you will be trained to offer literacy tutoring and one-on-one support for individuals looking to improve their literacy in the english language.

Volunteers of this program will do the following: • Address basic english literacy needs in tutorial sessions with clients • Work alongside other library staff and volunteers • Gain knowledge and confidence in delivering english language tutoring

We are seeking volunteers who are able to volunteer on a weekly basis for approximately 3 hours per week for the duration of the pilot project: Monday, 19th August – Thursday 31st October, with the exception of school holidays. Volunteers must also be available to attend the following:

• A 30 minute interview on either the 4th, 5th, 11th or 12th of July. • A 2 day tutor training session on Tuesday, 6th August and Wednesday, 7th August, 9am – 3pm • The program induction on Tuesday, 13th August between 9am – 1pm.
