Shailer Park Community Action in Koala Conservation

Conservation Volunteers Australia
Logo for Conservation Volunteers Australia

Exotic weeds dumped by households into native bush in Logan have taken over which are now encroaching on the Koala Bushland Coordinated Conservation Area, a forested oasis that covers 1500ha of remnant bushland making it one of the largest protected areas between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Wee infestations prevent bush from re-generating and makes it difficult for species like koalas to safely move through the local area which increases their likelihood of being hit by cars or attacked by dogs.

Join CVA as we partner with Logan City Council and QPWS rangers to tackle these weeds and protect critical koala habitat! For lunch we will be taking a short drive to Daisy Hill Koala Centre where you will have the chance to view koalas up close and spot commonly sighted wildlife including wallabies, kookaburras and goannas.

If this project is fully booked but you are able to make your way to and from the project site we would love to have you on board, simply contact our Brisbane office via phone or email and we can manually add you on to the project. The project address is the end of Marana Street, Shailer Park 4128.

Remember to wear long pants, a long sleeved shirt, enclosed shoes, a hat, sunglasses and please bring your lunch and plenty of water.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
