The Community Visitors Scheme volunteers provide friendship and companionship to isolated members of our community. The program matches volunteers with recipients of Australian Government- subsidised aged care services who are living at home (home care package approved) or in an aged care facility.
Be matched on a one-to-one basis with a resident with similar interests, provide a link with the community, share interests and hobbies, and show a genuine interest in the person. It’s about making a resident feel valued and cared for by connecting them to the community through conversation on a regular basis (an hour a fortnight).
This position is flexible as you can coordinate visiting times to suit you and your resident.
The Mansfield Shire has Aged Care Facilities located in Mansfield. Home visits can also be organised on an as-needed basis.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer contact us and we will send an information pack, which will include application forms. As part of your application we will then complete a police check on your behalf. Initial orientation to the aged care environment, or home, ongoing training and support is then provided.
