Our Wesley Mission Queensland Cooper House aged care community at Chermside is seeking volunteers to assist with the resident lifestyle program on week day mornings and afternoons. The program includes fun group activities such as bowling, concerts, board games, bus trips and singalongs. Individual visits to residents can also be organised if you would prefer. These activities assist residents with improving fitness levels, promoting a sense of wellbeing and encouraging community connectedness. Most importantly they bring joy and create smiles!

The Companionship and Social Support Volunteer can assist residents by:

• Escorting residents to and from the lifestyle program and assisting as required during the daily activity program.

• Visiting residents individually to build positive relationships and provide
  companionship.

• Encouraging independence, friendship and fun.

• Being spontaneous and sharing life experiences.

• Communicating resident feedback to staff to enhance resident enjoyment.

This role is suitable for people who have well developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills and display a calm and empathetic manner. Volunteering is a wonderful way to make a difference in the lives of our senior residents while making friends, having fun and learning new skills.

Volunteering hours currently available at Cooper House from Monday through to Friday between the hours of 9am till 4pm (flexible)

Cooper House is home to 58 residents with rooms that loop around a large central courtyard complete with undercover BBQ area and children’s playground. Cooper House is a welcoming and rewarding community to volunteer in.
