To comply with strict government advice concerning COVID-19, measures are still being taken to try and move this program online. Volunteers may not be able to tutor right away depending on whether tutors are allowed to continue entering schools and whether an online curriculum can be implemented. Volunteers may be placed in general administration and support roles in the interim.

These creative writing workshops are for young people aged 7 to 17, particularly those from marginalised backgrounds. Under the guidance of our expert storytelling team, our workshops are designed to build literacy, confidence, and creativity: essential skills young people need to shape their future. Volunteer tutors sit alongside our young people to support them to write stories of all kinds, which we publish.

Workshops run in schools and community groups in and around Sydney and Western Sydney, and we are looking for volunteers who are available for 1-2 hours a week between 8:30am-3:00pm for 6-9 weeks during school term. Although we welcome young volunteers, please keep these times in mind when applying.

**Duties include:** • Supporting students in small groups to inspire ideas. • Facilitating 2-6 students each week of a series, building up their work to a completed publication at the end. • Encouraging students to think creatively and critically.

Volunteers will be supported by professional staff during each workshop to foster the best delivery of workshop content and activities.

Volunteers are expected to attend an interview and orientation session before starting, complete some paperwork and obtain a (free) Working with Children check.
