City2Surf Cheer Squad - Event Volunteer

Cancer Council NSW

Cancer Council NSW is a community funded, community focused cancer charity dedicated to working towards a cancer-free future.

There are things that we can all do every day to help make this happen. Starting at Hyde Park and finishing at Bondi Beach, the Sun-Herald City2Surf is not only Sydney’s favourite sporting event but also the world’s largest run with over 80,000 participants.

On Sunday 11 August, many runners will be taking on this 14km course to raise funds for Cancer Council NSW. Cancer Council is one of the supporter charities for City2Surf and we are seeking energetic and passionate volunteers to join the Cancer Council cheer squad.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Cheering on the Cancer Council runners who have been fundraising to help us in our mission to achieve a cancer-free future!
  • Encouraging the runners and celebrate with them as they cross the finish line at Bondi Beach.
  • Marshalling Cancer Council runners to our marquee and ensure our runners are refreshed and rewarded after their run.

Our ideal volunteer will:

  • Be positive and have the desire to support our incredible runners
  • Have basic customer service skills
  • Be able to work autonomously or in a team
  • Be ready to make lots of noise to support our runners

Benefits of the role:

  • Be part of Sydney’s iconic 14km event – City 2 Surf
  • Work with other passionate staff and volunteers of Australia’s leading cancer charity
  • Enjoy the festivities of one of Sydney’s biggest events
