Grants and Fundraising Officer

The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of Strike Out Stroke®.

We urgently need a highly experienced skilled volunteer for a Grants and Fundraising officer role to join a dynamic and multiple skilled committee team. This role will require the person to provide ongoing support and guidance to other committee members with their expertise and skills in all tasks, surrounding grant writing and campaign fundraising as we continue to expand our exciting national community-based campaign.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Grant Writing:

  • Write high quality grant proposal narratives, applications, and supporting documents
  • Responsible for researching, collecting data, and writing of each grant
  • Work with campaign president and treasurer to compile financial data
  • Manage the proposal submission process to ensure timely submission of all required materials
  • Develop and maintain a proposal calendar, coordinate and follow up on the progress of submitted proposals
  • Conduct prospect research to identify, cultivate and solicit new grants

Fundraising:

  • Financial and management reporting; business planning
  • Demonstrated application of technical skills in a relevant context (program/project management, Not for Profit, public service, foundation or other donor/s)
  • Process mapping and business improvement
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify links between different processes and data sets, and the flow-on impacts of different decisions
  • The ability to build strong relationships with various stakeholders (government, corporate and educational institutions) and leverage these for desired outcomes

Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in grant writing and fundraising

  • Non-profit experience is preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to write successful grant proposals

  • Working knowledge of financial systems/process in relation to campaigns

  • Detail oriented, organized, deadline driven

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and in a team

  • High proficiency in all areas of Microsoft Office applications

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications such as Business/Commerce is desirable
