What We Do

12 Buckets provides a tailored one-to-one mentoring program to primary aged students, focusing on responsibility, community, mastery and generosity through a journey plan with their mentor.

Our early intervention strengths-based approach to mentoring means that we help uncover a child's existing area of strength or interest through taking time to get to know each other through games and other activities. Activities could be around cooking, art, building, music, writing, environment, sport, photography or web design. The list goes well beyond these!

Once a student's area of interest or existing strength is identified, we then help you design a tailored Journey Board of learning so that there is clear direction for your sessions. The mentoring experience is made easy when the destination is known.

Becoming a Mentor

There are five steps to becoming a 12 Buckets mentor:

  1. Respond to this advertisement (Please note that in order to provide consistency for the students, we look for a 12-month commitment from our volunteer mentors.)
  2. We will then contact you to visit one of our 12 Buckets schools. That will give you an opportunity to find out more about us.
  3. After your visit to one of our schools, we'll be making contact with the references you gave us in your application form.
  4. If we get a good sense from your references of your suitability to work with children, we'll ask you to obtain a Working With Children Check and National Police Check.
  5. Once you have your checks, we'll touch base to set up your orientation time.
You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
