Event Assistant Volunteer

Outline of the role: Cancer Council NSW is a community funded, community focused cancer charity dedicated to working towards a cancer free future. There are things that we can all do every day to help make this happen.

Supporting the Marketing and Fundraising team and based at Woolloomooloo, your key accountabilities will include:

  • Assisting with event preparations, logistics, and stock management for two Relay For Life conferences
  • Assisting with set up and pack down of conference sessions during events
  • Manage accommodation, seating plans, and catering for delegates
  • Record meeting notes from conference sessions
  • Organise printing for event collateral, and prepare delegate packs
  • Support in putting together event communication for Summit delegates
  • Support the Relay For Life team as required

Our ideal volunteer will have:

  • A passion in not-for-profit, event management and/or fundraising
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • The ability to multi-task and competent to achieve deadlines
  • Strong organisational skills
  • The ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively as part of a team
  • Willingness to take ownership of tasks and projects
  • Initiative and is able to work autonomously
  • Proficient computer skills with MS Office (including Outlook, Word, Excel)

Our successful volunteer will be available all day for both conferences on Friday 5 July - Sunday 7 July, and Tuesday 16 July - Thursday 18 July.

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Previous events experience
  • Previous exposure to the not-for-profit industry or working with volunteers.
