Community Visitor - Take a walk in the Garden with John! - Midland

John loves to get exercise by walking in the garden and needs someone to keep him company. He has led a very colourful and varied life and likes to share his experiences. Are you a good listener? Do you have stories to share? I think you and John will get along just nicely!

Volunteers brighten the life of an isolated person living in an aged care facility by visiting regularly to provide friendship and companionship.

Training

Occupational Health and Safety, Ongoing support from Community Visitors Co-ordinator

Time required

A minimum of one hour per fortnight for at least six months. Any day of the week. Flexible times.

Reimbursement

Travel expenses are reimbursed. Discuss with Coordinator

Requirements

National Police Certificate

National Volunteer Police Check No formal qualifications required. However empathy and understanding of older people will be quality life skills that will enable you and the resident that you are matched with get the best out of all visits. Volunteers incur no out of pocket expenses whilst within their volunteer role. Police checks are conducted by the organisation at no cost to the volunteer. All mandatory and subsequent training will be provided for the role at no cost to the volunteer as identified. Community Visitor Volunteers are invited to enquire for more information. Information sessions and one on one interview are available on request.
