Open House Melbourne Event – Seeking volunteers

Company: The National Trust of Australia (Victoria) (NTAV) is an independent, non-profit organisation supported by a large community base. We are Victoria's premier heritage and conservation organisation and the major operator of historic properties and sites open to the public across Victoria.

About the event: The 12th annual Open House Melbourne weekend will be the largest program ever presented. Over 220 buildings around Melbourne will open their doors to the public this year on Saturday 27 or Sunday 28 July 2019.

About the role: The National Trust is seeking volunteers to participate in Open House Melbourne weekend at Tasma Terraces, Como House, Labassa, La Trobe’s Cottage and Napier Waller.

Each year the National Trust opens the doors for the Open House Melbourne program. The Open House Melbourne Program is a great opportunity for the Trust to share its historic properties and buildings with a wider section of the community and even completely new audiences. Help us tell our story!

Volunteers are vital for ensuring visitors have the best possible experience by providing building access, tour guidance and answering questions . You must be available for a half-day or full day shift for the following dates/times:

Saturday 27th July - 9.30am – 4.30pm Como House & Garden – Crn Williams Rd & Lechlade Ave, South Yarra La Trobe’s Cottage - Crn of Birdwood Avenue & Dallas Brooks Drive, The Domain, Melbourne Tasma Terrace – 6 Parliament Place, East Melbourne

Sunday 28th July - 9.30am – 4.30pm Napier Waller House - 9 Crown Road, Ivanhoe Labassa Mansion - 2 Manor Grove, Caulfield North Tasma Terrace – 6 Parliament Place, East Melbourne

Volunteer inductions start at 9.30am each morning and 1pm in the afternoons. Invite a friend and volunteer together!

What’s involved? Help us open these beautiful heritage properties to the public.

  • Greeting and assisting visitors
  • Assisting with Membership sales
  • Assisting with Retail sales
  • Ensuring visitors have a wonderful time!
