Volunteer Mentor for a young man in care - Gosnells area
Department For Communities; Child Protection And Family SupportA mentor is an everyday person who likes to help others, especially young people. The simple act of a relaxing walk, a game of basketball or hot chocolate and a laugh can providing opportunity for conversation and connection, making a world of difference to a young person who feels disconnected. You can be this person, the one who provides the opportunity for a young person to be empowered and to begin making positive choices in their life while creating a new potential for themselves. As a mentor, you would be involved in befriending and supporting a young person who is in the care of the Department for Child Protection. You would be providing the young person with a stable and positive role model; someone who takes the time to build a relationship that encourages growth and success in their life. You would need to be able to commit for a minimum of 12 months with hope for a much longer, ongoing connection, catching up with the young person approximately every 2 weeks for 2-6 hours at a time. We will provide training and ongoing support to ensure you are in the best possible place to provide these opportunities for the young person you are matched with.
