Bicycles for Humanity Melbourne is a voluntary, not-for- profit organisation that collects disused bicycles and ships them to communities in need. The bicycles change lives forever by improving basic mobility for access to health care and education, and increasing economic productivity. The container then becomes a pre-built bicycle workshop providing employment opportunities.

We are looking for an experienced Committee Secretary to join our Operating Committee. Duties:

• Liaise with President to plan Committee meeting agendas
• Take and circulate minutes
• File minutes and reports
• Maintain task monitor, events calendar and compliance calendar
• Provide advice on governance matters

Who we are looking for:

• Previous experience as secretary to a committee or other governance body
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with a diverse range of people
• Highly organised with strong planning skills
• Excellent communication skills
• A confident self-starter with initiative

The Operating Committee meets monthly on week day evenings, mostly via video conference and sometimes face to face in the Melbourne CBD. Meeting duration is usually around 1.5 hours.

Apart from the face to face meetings, this is largely a virtual volunteering opportunity. You can contribute around other commitments. Location is also flexible; you can work online from wherever you are.
