Food Security Volunteer - Gosford to Wyong

The program The Red Cross Food Literacy education suite provides nutrition information for primary aged school kids, to enable children to make informed dietary choices to support health and wellbeing as they grow, in areas of greatest need around Australia.

The opportunity Make a difference to local kids by encouraging positive nutrition behaviours and giving them essential life skills. Encourage and empower kids to develop healthy eating habits to support their growth and development. It involves day to day tasks such as shopping for demonstration food, setting up, presenting material, assisting with the completion of surveys and cleaning up. Follow food safety & hygiene and engage with kids who attend the workshops.A driver’s license and access to a car is advisable to enable you to easily get to and from the school venues but carpooling or public transport may be possible too.

The impact As a Food Security volunteer, you’ll help children to achieve their best in the classroom and in the playground.
