The Future Proofing Study is the largest of its kind in Australia and aims to harness science to create a brighter future for young people. This role is perfect for anyone with an interest in research and a passion for improving youth mental health and wellbeing.

What does a Volunteer Research Assistant do?

As a Volunteer Research Assistant for The Future Proofing Study, you will be fully trained and supported by Black Dog Institute. You will be visiting allocated secondary schools and assisting them in participating in The Future Proofing Study through:

• Assisting the student registration process through helping students complete consent form and download smart phone apps on their devices prior to the commencement of the study;
•  Using your excellent presentation and communication skills, you will facilitate the completion of online questionnaires that students will complete within the classroom setting; and
•  Managing the dashboard system to monitor study progress of students and provide assistance as required throughout the study

• Possess outstanding interpersonal skills
• Are passionate about improving youth mental health and well-being 
• Have an experience in working with young people/adolescence;

Additional requirements:

• Availability to agree to the time commitment outlined above
• Be available to attend a half-day training program at the Black Dog Institute office in Randwick prior to the commencement of the role
• Be over 18 years of age
• Hold a current Working with Children Check
• Ability to travel to allocated schools (within Sydney metropolitan area) by public transport or your own vehicle. Travel expenses will be reimbursed
