Special Care Nursery - Comfort Program Volunteer
Northern Healthcare VOLUNTEER Association- Under supervision of nursing staff, volunteers will provide care in the form providing a soothing environment with may include singing, reading and talking to the baby. This may include holding the baby and rocking gently to sleep.
- Answering the door bell, ascertaining the correct visitors to patients and facilitating entry, hand hygiene
- Check and sign in breast milk in the milk log when parents arrive
- Assisting parents when requested
- Putting on education DVD’S for the parents on the screens provided in the Special Care Nursery
- Supporting families on discharge, collecting belongings and escorting to their car
- Assist ward staff and ward clerk with miscellaneous tasks that may include: o Photocopying o Restocking shelves o Folding Linen o Making mouth care packs o Weighing clean nappies o Other duties as requested
