Vinnies SPARK

The SPARK Social Circus program generates proven positive social outcomes in young people by offering physical and creative learning activities that promote self-determination, problem solving, team work, listening, communication, and resilience building skills. Social Circus is an inclusive program that celebrates diversity, allowing children to shine in their own way. Social Circus takes a trauma-informed approach to working with children, teaching children both physical and emotional self-control.

As a SPARK volunteer, you will play a central role in the operations of the Society.

The Volunteer Role

The SPARK Volunteer will perform a variety of tasks including:

• Create a fun, creative and interactive space;
• Provide a range of physical and creative learning activities for children; and
• Support children to express and interact with others.

The volunteers we are seeking will ideally:

• Be a people person – welcoming, encouraging and positive;
• Be willing to work within the ethos of the St Vincent de Paul Society;
• Be respectful of others and flexible in their attitude to work and the team;
• Be reliable, committed and have good time management;
• Be enthusiastic, energetic, positive and have a sense of fun;
• Be patient, approachable and sensitive to cross cultural issues and challenges;
• Have a team orientated attitude;
• Must be willing to attend induction training on Wednesday 10 July 2019;
• Must be able to commit to 5 hours 1 day per week for 6 weeks; and
• Be willing to travel to selected schools in Western Sydney.

No experience needed as in –house coaching and training is provided. We welcome those with previous experience teaching or working with children to share their experience with their fellow volunteers.
