The main role of a LAC Member is to attend and participate in LAC meetings (on average 2 hours per month) as well as complete assigned action items as agreed. LAC members need to understand StreetWork’s strategy and the value of the services that the organisation delivers to ‘at risk’ young people to help them turn their lives around. The Youth Services Manager is a member of the LAC and is expected to attend regularly to share recent success stories about young people who are in our KickStart Mentoring Program. Members should leverage their personal networks to identify people who, and organisations that can assist StreetWork to deliver services to ‘at risk’ young people. This may include those who can provide or refer those individuals/organisations who can provide: • financial donations • In-kind items (computers, mobile phones) • Suitable grants/foundations etc • In-kind services (legal advice, strategies) • Items which can be used at fundraising events • Opportunities for free/reduced priced food served to young people through Outreach events (eg StreetSizzle (BBQ)) • Experiences to undertake with young people (eg sound studio, Sailing Program etc) • Access to guest speakers or other opportunities to tell others about StreetWork (at an organisation charity discussion meeting) • Availablility to deliver presentations/talks about StreetWork to community organisations/business who may be considering a partnership
