Revive Our Wetlands - City of Cockburn - June

Conservation Volunteers Australia - CVRC

Perth’s wetlands and catchments are valuable natural assets, providing habitat for ecologically important aquatic and terrestrial flora and fauna. Wetland vegetation also provides an important filtering service, removing pollutants such as nutrients, organic and inorganic matter and some pathogens before the water flows out into our rivers and oceans! Quality wetlands equals quality water all round! The City of Cockburn covers a large area of the Beeliar Regional Park which encompasses numerous ecologically significant wetlands including Thomsons Lake, Bibra Lake, Little Rush Lake and Yangebup Lake. These wetlands are home to hundreds of native flora and fauna species including the threatened Carnaby’s Cockatoo. Conservation Volunteers have partnered with the City of Cockburn to help conserve these areas through invasive weed management, green stock maintenance, revegetation planting, fencing and species surveys. Join us in protecting these significant wetlands right on our back doorstep! (If the project is fully booked online call our Perth office on 9335 2777 and one of our friendly staff will help you book onto the project).
