The program
The Red Cross Young Parents Program (YPP) works to improve the capacity of very young parents to live and parent independently, ensure best outcomes for their children, and reach their full potential within safe, strong and resilient families through its Residential, Outreach, and Aftercare stages.
The opportunity
The role of the Volunteer Child Minder is to provide respite child care for the babies and young children of the families within the Young Parents Program (YPP) while parents work towards their education goals. This role suits a friendly, energetic and reliable person over the age of 18, with professional and/or personal experience caring for infants and toddlers, and can make an ongoing weekly commitment
The impact
As a Volunteer Child Minder, you’ll reduce barriers for young parents to access education by providing safe and nurturing childcare to their children. Additionally, you will play an important role working directly with infants and toddlers to achieve critical developmental goals. Red Cross will ensure you have training, ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the world’s largest humanitarian network.
