Volunteer Equipment Officer

Equipment Officer required to help maintain  3 appliances within 2 stations as well as other equipment including:

  • Petrol air compressors,
  • Transfer pumps,
  • Bell slip on units,
  • Bell trailing units,
  • Collar tank pumps and
  • Additional fast fill pumps.

Other duties include:

  • General shed maintenance,
  • Assist or advise public with repairs and maintenance to their personal units,
  • Maintain inventory of consumables and
  • Ensure active members are equipped with all of the necessary PPE, including new members and organise replacement of worn PPE

You will need to:

  • Work in conjunction with the Captains and Lieutenants.
  • Ideally have a good understanding of  WAERN radios, AVL systems, petrol  and diesel engines, pumps and general maintenance.
  • An understanding of VFR (Vehicle Fault Reports) and V Power check lists would be an advantage, however training opportunities regularly exist both on the checklist systems, reporting and pump operation.

Major servicing is undertaken by the Denmark Shire Council as well as major repairs but many faults are easily rectified or averted by good maintenance. Responsibilities to ensure equipment is maintained to a high standard, ready for use at any time, checked thoroughly over after use or as soon as practical and major faults followed up on. This  can be a shared role provided parties are on the same page, work well together and complement each other.
