    • Must be available for regular times/days within a geographic area specified by yourself
    • Must have own mobile phone and sufficient credit for calling/texting rescue phone operator, carers, rescues and vets etc
    • Must have own insured vehicle with sufficient petrol to undertake pick ups and deliveries during the times and geographic area you nominate
    • Must provide own PPE and transporting equipment
    • Must attend specified one-on-one and group training
    • Must have phone message bank and sufficient credit for receiving/retrieving messages (specific message required to be used on message bank during available times)
    • Looking for someone with a strong love of and compassion for animals/wildlife
    • You will need self-confidence when dealing with members of the public, vets and wildlife carers including active listening skills, common sense and patience
    • You will need basic record keeping skills for maintaining details of calls and each outcome
    • Plus basic computer skills and access to email/Internet

This role requires you to receive calls from the rescue phone operator requesting you drive from your home to specific addresses within your nominated geographic area to pick up contained wildlife that will be ill, injured and/or orphaned and deliver them to an agreed vet or carer in a timely manner.

The role involves: • Receiving requests by phone from the 24 hour rescue phone operator for assistance with sick, injured and orphaned wildlife • Assessing the situation on arrival before providing transport for the wildlife to a vet, or carer where possible • Contacting the rescue phone operator and/or appropriate carers to discuss changes to the transport plans where the condition of the wildlife makes this necessary • Seeking advice from your mentor if unsure of appropriate action to take before transporting the wildlife • Handing out BARN Thank You packages to members of the public and/or vets • Following up to ensure wildlife is assisted as appropriate • Recording the details of transport outcomes for administrative and audit purposes • Collating and forwarding shift statistics to supervisor after each shift and completing more detailed excel spreadsheet reports on a regular basis
