The Role This is an opportunity for people of all ages including parents and children. Visitors connect with aged residents in care who do not have regular contact with relatives and friends and who have become isolated and lonely.

About Us Lutheran Community Care supports communities through responding to the needs of individuals and families, community development, learning opportunities, accommodation and support.

Our services are based on respect, integrity and compassion. We work with communities to develop efficient and effective ways to respond to individuals and families in need. We embrace all people regardless of language, culture, ethnicity or religion.

Our staff and volunteers walk alongside those in need to provide, not just the necessities of food, clothing and shelter but also support and care.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ATTRIBUTES

  • Has an understanding of older people and ageing
  • Has an understanding of grief and loss for older people and volunteers
  • Ability to interact with older people
  • Good communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to work in an aged care/ home environment.
  • Ability to commit to visit once a fortnight for at least twelve months
  • Ability to travel to the designated facility
  • Ability to cope with changes in visiting arrangements
  • Ability to be non-judgemental and welcoming to people from all cultures and backgrounds.
  • National Police Certificate
  • Working with Children Check
