Skills, qualities and experience

  • Good attention to detail
  • Excellent computer skills, preferably with some experience using databases
  • Customer service
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Ability to follow systems and procedures
  • Time management and organisational skills
  • Working cooperatively and collaboratively with other volunteers, site staff and external contractors
  • Desirable- working towards a degree in curatorial studies (or similar) but this is not essential
  • What will you be doing?
  • Researching the lives of women who have been connected to Old Government House
  • Working in a small team alongside museum staff and fellow volunteers
  • Using the Trust's and other Institutions collection databases to research items for display
  • Using publicly available databases to gather information on the women related to Old Government House
  • Assist with the creation of exhibition files and the production of text relating to objects in the exhibition
