The Parents under Pressure program is looking for volunteers to help with their weekly workshops on Thursdays 9.30am - 12.30pm at our Merriwa hub.

The PuPS program is a supportive parenting programme that helps parents with the pressure and stress of looking after a young child whilst managing a range of factors such as the breakdown of a relationship, the lack of nearby family and friends, having multiple children, mental health issues or language barriers.

The early years of a child’s life are incredibly important for long-term development. Yet while parents want the best for their children, not every parent has access to the support they need.

We are looking for volunteers to be agents of change and help support this innovative program. Do you have an interest in supporting parents under pressure and have life skills and energy to share? Previous experience of childcare and the ability to make at least a 6 month commitment would be preferred

The role is based in our Merriwa site and runs weekly on a Thursday 9.30am- 12.30pm

If you have an interest and enthusiasm for working with children and would you like to help them engage in activities to help build their skills and confidence, this exciting role could be just for you. You will gain valuable experience and skills working with young people in community programs.

The role will call for you to • encourage social interaction and active participation in play • Work as part of the team to engage with parents/carers and their children. • have excellent communication skills and the ability to be patient with children

Volunteers will need to be adaptable to support a range of children. To be mindful of other cultures and to have an interest in creative play, for example music, art and storytelling.
