Warehouse Volunteer General Hand – Vinnies Return & Earn Recycling Centre Cardiff (Newcastle)

St Vincent de Paul Society NSW

Vinnies Distribution Centre and shops

Vinnies shops are a well-established and much-loved part of the Aussie retail landscape. Aside from being an op-shop mecca for fans of all things quality and thrift, the shops generate revenue for our broad range of services supporting the community. They may also be a first point of contact for people seeking emergency assistance.

The newly established Return and Earn scheme is the way forward for recycling in NSW, and as Vinnies are the ultimate recyclers of clothing, bric-a-brac, furniture, we are now venturing into recycling bottles and cans.

As a Volunteer General Hand, you will play a central role in the operations of the Society.

The Volunteer Role

The Warehouse Volunteer General Hand will perform a variety of tasks including:

  • Meet and greet new customers and guide them through the return & earn process;
  • Provide customers with excellent experience;
  • Receive and process donated bottles and cans;
  • Perform general warehousing tasks; and
  • Keeping the warehouse clean, tidy, whilst maintaining safe work practices.

The volunteers we are seeking will ideally:

  • Be a people person – welcoming, encouraging and positive;
  • Be willing to work within the ethos of the St Vincent de Paul Society; and
  • Be respectful of others and flexible in their attitude to work and the team.

Previous warehousing experience would be highly regarded as well as a current, valid fork lift license. In-house coaching and training is provided.

Why join Vinnies as a volunteer

Our volunteers are an integral part of the ongoing success of our Vinnies shops and in achieving the goals outlined in the Vinnies Strategic Plan.

Volunteering is a great way to interact with like-minded people and build friendships. Your contribution as a volunteer will bring you a feeling of satisfaction knowing you are working for an organisation that makes a difference for those in need.  It will provide an opportunity for those who would like to gain retail training and experience and an avenue for you to share your expertise and talents.

If you are interested in becoming a much valued Vinnies volunteer, please either pop in to the shop for an application and information pack or hit the APPLY button below.
