Community Visitors for In Home Visits, English and Russian, Greek, Italian, Polish, Arabic-Egyptian
Better Health NetworkAre you keen to make a difference?. A community visitor is a Volunteer who is matched with a person living in their own home or in an aged care facility, who may be lonely or isolated and who visits on a regular basis to provide friendship and companionship. Besides English speaking, we need you to speak either; Italian, Greek, Russian, Arabic, Croatian, Sri Lankan, Hindi, or Polish, to meet the needs of our diverse community.
Visits can be spent doing something both the person and the volunteer enjoy - reading, listening to music, playing a game, chatting and reminiscing or going for a walk, wheelchair walk or other outing.
We ask that volunteers commit to visiting for up to 1 hr once a fortnight, as a minimum (but you can visit more often if you like). We also ask that potential volunteers consider making the commitment for at least 12 months. As a CVS Volunteer you play a vital role in improving the quality of life of the person you visit through ongoing companionship.
Orientation/training is provided before commencement, at your own pace and in the comfort of your home. Ongoing support is provided.
