Dress For Work Volunteers

Metro Assist

This is an exciting opportunity to obtain practical insight and knowledge into the workings of a not- for-profit project, enabling you to undertake a variety of tasks on a daily basis including working directly with clients, assisting in the delivery of employment training, contributing to the project’s social media content and various administrative tasks.

While fitting clients is one aspect of the role, a background in fashion is by no means necessary. We are seeking individuals who are energetic, empathetic and more importantly, looking to make a real difference in the lives of the clients they work with.

The role will involve:·

  • Assisting in the fitting and measuring of clients with complex needs and from a diverse range of backgrounds·
  • Attending and participating in community expos,  festivals , schools  to promote Dress for Work and Metro Assist services to clients and service providers throughout NSW·
  • Assisting in facilitating Job Readiness Training  group sessions to clients at schools, TAFE and correctional centres  throughout NSW·
  • Booking and scheduling  client appointments as well as responding to  telephone and e-mail enquiries from clients,  donors and service providers·
  • Undertaking data entry using the organisation specific  database·
  • Undertaking Social media and promotion including content  creation for Dress for Work website and blog, Facebook page and Instagram·
  • Organising  and  sorting of donated stock·
  • Picking up of donations from sites using company  vehicle,  as required

The ideal applicant will:·

  • Be available for a minimum of 2 days per week for 3  hours per shift (Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays)·
  • Possess a current Driver’s license·
  • Be prepared to operate across two sites (Westmead and  Bankstown) as  the need arises·
  • Have a current Working With Children Check and Police Check  (or be prepared to undergo these)·
  • Have their own reliable vehicle

Selection Criteria·

  • Demonstrated experience in the community sector, either as a  volunteer or a paid employee·
  • Demonstrated experience working with clients with complex needs, including clients from  culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds,
  • clients experiencing mental health issues and/or physical disabilities as well
  • as  clients from indigenous backgrounds·
  • Demonstrated experience in undertaking administrative tasks, including answering telephone and email enquiries
